Hundreds of celebrities have also attended World Cup matches throughout the summer, including dozens at the final.
Photographers have often focused on these famous faces in the stands, encouraging commentators to name them.
While this has frustrated fans worldwide who want to focus on the game, it has also been challenging for the commentators.
BBC commentator’s on-air mix-up that left World Cup viewers stunned
BBC Sport commentator Guy Mowbray made a silly mistake during the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The cameras panned to a famous pop star in the crowd before Mowbray replied: “That’s AKA Rocky, or ASAP Rocky, sorry.”
Not only did Mowbray first mispronounce his name, but it was actually Pharrell Williams in the stands at MetLife Stadium.
54-year-old Mowbray can probably be forgiven for not knowing the American musician and songwriter.
Williams, who has several chart-topping hits, including ‘Happy’ and ‘Get Lucky’, will probably not be offended either.
