Over the Christmas period, rumours emerged that Bayern Munich would look to sign Raphinha from Leeds if they couldn’t get Kingsley Coman strapped up to a new deal.
Well, on Wednesday afternoon, the German champions announced on Twitter that Coman has signed a deal until 2027, which should end all of that talk.
It should be music to the ears of Leeds United’s fans because that’s one less worry regarding their superstar winger.
The last thing someone like Marcelo Bielsa needed was one of Europe’s biggest clubs knocking on their doors for Raphinha.
Not only is this great news for the January transfer window, but it should also rule out Bayern knocking in the summer.
Of course, given the talent in Raphinha’s boots, there will be a big limelight on him and his future in Yorkshire.
The 25-year-old has scored a quite incredible eight goals from his 17 Premier League matches and that for a team struggling near the bottom.
Not only have Leeds suffered from poor performances, but also heavy defeats on top of injury after injury to key players.
Even that, without the likes of Kalvin Phillips marshalling the midfield, or Patrick Bamford running the forward line, their Brazilian star has stood tall.
It could even be argued that he has performed even better without them on the pitch, which is a credit to the player, his talents and mentality.
