Bayern Munich have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Matthias Ginter, with Tottenham and West Ham both interested in the German international.

According to Bild, the Bavarian giants are no longer tracking the 28-year-old centre-back, with Bayern now changing tact over who they will sign this summer to replace Niklas Sule.

As per the report, Nico Schlotterbeck is also off the table, with the Freiburg star close to signing for Borussia Dortmund, a player Tottenham were also interested in according to the Athletic.

Indeed, with Ginter now longer on Bayern’s radar, this update is huge for Tottenham and West Ham, who are both reportedly interested in the Borussia Monchengladbach star.

Sky Germany claim that the defender is being watched by the two London clubs, with Gladbach set to miss out on any of the €17m (£14m) the Bundesliga club spent in 2017 to sign the centre-back from Dortmund given that Ginter’s contract expires this summer.

However, with Bayern now out of the race for Ginter, there is a strong chance that the defender could end up in England, with Tottenham and West Ham no doubt excited about this latest update from Germany.

With Bayern now out of contention for Ginter, not much is stopping either Tottenham or West Ham from signing the talented defender, especially on a deal as enticing as a Bosman.

After all, Ginter is in the peak of his career and would be an exceptional addition to either Premier League side, who will both be looking to strengthen at centre-back this summer ahead of next season.
