Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and David Moyes’s West Ham United are going strong in Europe this season.

Arsenal have reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, while London and Premier League rivals West Ham United have progressed to the last eight of the UEFA Europa League.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal beat FC Porto in the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League and will take on Bayern Munich for a place in the semi-finals.

David Moyes’s West Ham eased past Freiburg over two legs in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League and will face Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter-finals.

Bastian Schweinsteiger comments on Arsenal and West Ham United

As you can see below, Bastian Schweinsteiger has given his verdict on Arsenal and West Ham United.

The former Bayern and Manchester United midfielder does not seem to rate Arsenal highly.

Schweinsteiger seems pleased that Bayern have avoided a big-name club and will play the second leg of the tie at the Allianz Arena.

As for West Ham, the former Germany international midfielder thinks that the Hammers are a very strong team and will ask a lot of questions of Bayer Leverkusen.

My View: Arsenal and West Ham United have tough ties

In my opinion, Arsenal and West Ham United will find it hard to get past Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.

Bayern are one of the biggest clubs in the world who are used to playing in the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League and winning the competition.

While Arsenal have a strong team, the second leg is in Munich, and I think that Bayern will head into the quarter-final tie as favourites.

As for West Ham, they have done extremely well to progress to the quarter-finals of a European competition yet again.

However, Bayer are a very strong team. Xavi Alonso’s side are very likely to beat Bayern to the Bundesliga title this season, and I think that they are favourites to win against West Ham.
