The MLB Home Run Derby did not disappoint on Tuesday night, and home run record-holder Barry Bonds was seriously impressed with the display from winner Jordan Walker.
Bonds won the Derby himself in 1996, and holds MLB records for most home runs (762), and most in a single season (73).
As such, his praise matters more than most, so Walker will have been honored to hear the 61-year-old’s kind words following his 12-11 win against Kyle Schwarber — and in front of a very hostile Philadelphia crowd.
According to Bonds, it was the best Home Run Derby performance he has seen.

Jordan Walker given the ultimate praise from Barry Bonds
The standard of hitting at this event was never higher than during this 2026 edition. Bryce Harper’s eight hits in the first round, for example, wasn’t enough to get him through.
But more than lauding the overall standard, Bonds honed in on Walker’s winning performance specifically.
He said (via Netflix): “I thought it was the greatest home run derby i’ve ever seen. I had to make three home runs to get the win. 11 home runs, amazing.
“What got me was this Jordan. You were so calm, you used your hands well, you never cared how far the ball went. You actually used your hands well as a contact hitter, just hit the ball, you were just fluid.
“It was probably the most amazing [I’ve seen]. And for me to say it, brother, I’m gonna tell you right now. I’ve seen a lot of home runs, but to come back 11/15, we’re talking only 15 swings.
“Brother you got my trophy too.”
Walker was automatic with the bat, and he didn’t seem to break a sweat.
The win meant more than just bragging rights in the MLB. He earned $1,000,000 for his troubles, which is more than what the St. Louis Cardinals right fielder makes in a year.
If Bonds’ words are anything to go by, he more than deserves it.
