A number of Barnsley fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club confirmed on their official website that they have signed Aapo Halme from Leeds United this summer.

Halme’s departure from Elland Road appears to have caught a number of Whites fans off-guard. When fit, he featured regularly for the under-23s last season and made a handful of appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team. He looked impressive when given a chance and was on the bench for much of the latter stages of the campaign.

A move away appeared to make plenty of sense, but it seems that many Leeds supporters would have suggested that he should be allowed to leave on loan to get more experience with a number of players ahead of him in the pecking order.

But Barnsley have confirmed on their official website that the centre-back has signed a three-year contract at Oakwell with the Tykes having the option to extend those terms by a further year.

And perhaps unsurprisingly, given that plenty of Leeds fans were not happy when it was reported that Halme may be leaving permanently, most of the Barnsley fans on social media are delighted to see the 21-year-old become their seventh signing of the summer.

The Barnsley supporters believe that he has a lot of potential, and are very happy that they have managed to agree a permanent move with their Championship rivals.
