Jay Bothroyd says Liverpool’s double transfer dealings for Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister are ‘bargains’ from Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The former Arsenal player applauded the two calls on Twitter, with Dominik Szoboszlai arriving from RB Leipzig on Sunday after it was confirmed by Liverpool on their official website.

Alexis Mac Allister has been in the building for some time now, with previous suggestions that his ‘£35 million’ transfer was a top, top deal.

Given that the all-action midfielder is a recent World Cup winner, then the Reds did well to nab his talents for very little, in comparison to some of the crazy deals in the market.

Declan Rice, for example, who is West Ham United’s captain and recently helped them win the Europa Conference League, is going to cost Arsenal a rumoured ‘£105 million’.

You add in what the Reds are seemingly paying for Szoboszlai, which is thought to be £60 million, then if you combine his transfer fee and Mac Allister’s, it still doesn’t add up to Rice.

That proves why the club didn’t push to sign Jude Bellingham because they clearly felt that they could sign a few players for the price of one, and they have done just that, with some extras left over.

Nonetheless, this is how former Arsenal academy star Bothroyd reacted to Liverpool’s double transfer calls.

Liverpool freshen up their midfield

This will provide a huge boost, not just to the fans, but the players also, with pre-season set to start the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.

A number of Liverpool players struggled last season, but the likes of Fabinho, who lost his form, might just see it returning when he has the likes of Mac Allister beside him.

Sometimes, you need a different voice next to you and that might just be the spark to life that the fading light above Anfield needs.
