Baker Mayfield hits back at ‘little guy’ Seattle Seahawks fan after heated 2025 clash

NFL players will be used to the verbals they receive from the stands during games, but Baker Mayfield is someone who is willing to give as good as he gets.

Fans pay thousands of dollars to sit in the front rows, which provides them with the closest possible vantage point to their team.

However, this also provides fans with the ability to interact with the players if they shout loud enough.

For the Seattle Seahawks, there are some season ticket holders who have seats situated at the road team’s entrance to the field.

Some of these fans have taken it upon themselves to try and put off the visiting team’s players, but this did not work on Mayfield as they planned.

What Baker Mayfield said to Seattle Seahawks fans

A number of opposing players have responded to this specific Seahawks fan, with Geno Smith having previously responded angrily on his return to the Pacific Northwest.

In week five of the 2025 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travelled to Lumen Field, with Mayfield receiving the scrutiny of the Seahawks fans.

“That guy – once I learned the history of it – I think he won the lottery and decided to buy those season tickets. He’s honestly a great football fan. He always does his research and has some little insults, tidbits, and things to get on you, which is honestly fun. I appreciate and respect him as a fan,” Mayfield said on Netlfix’s Quarterback.

Mayfield did his talking both on and off the field, with the Bucs quarterback throwing for 379 yards and two touchdowns as his side secured a 38-35 victory on the road in Seattle.

“Now, the little guy he brought with him was definitely new,” Mayfield added.

The sign displayed by this specific fan said: ‘You ladies are stuck with Mayfield’.

“He tried to let me have it in the tunnel, but I had to let him know that it was not going to go as planned.”

Ultimately, it was the Seattle fans that had the last laugh as the Seahawks went on to lift the Super Bowl and the Bucs missed out on the playoffs.

However, it is a big positive to see that Mayfield embraced this interaction and did not hold any real grudge over the efforts of the 12s to put him off before the game.
