Earlier today, it was said that Newcastle are interested in signing Callum Hudson-Odoi from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The 21-year-old is far from a regular starter under Thomas Tuchel, and Eddie Howe has now expressed significant interest in bringing the winger to St James’ Park.
If a deal does materialises between the Blues and the Magpies, then it would seemingly come with Gary Lineker’s seal of approval.
What’s the story?
Well, the BBC Match of the Day host has previously heaped praise on Hudson-Odoi, and appears to be a huge fan of the England international.
Back in January 2019 – amid strong interest in the forward from Bayern Munich – Lineker claimed that the youngster had “bags of talent” and it was no surprise to see the German giants attempting to sign him.

After Chelsea denied Hudson-Odoi a move to Bayern Munich, he began to somewhat fizzle out at Stamford Bridge.
The Londoner made just 11 Premier League starts last season, and has failed to make significant progress.
He scored just one goal in England’s top-flight last term, while also providing a measly two assists.
Callum Hudson-Odoi should push for Newcastle move
In our view, Hudson-Odoi should want Newcastle as much as they want him.
The winger’s promising career is stalling in west London, and we believe he needs a fresh start elsewhere.
Crucially, Tuchel doesn’t tend to use out-and-out wingers, as the German prefers to have his wing-backs provide the width on the flanks.
That is an issue for Hudson-Odoi, who is very much a traditional winger who hugs the touchline and takes full-backs on, in similar fashion to Allan Saint-Maximin.
Howe’s system enables the Frenchman to thrive, so we see no reason why Hudson-Odoi cannot shine as well if he makes the move to Newcastle.
