Steve McManman labelled Jordan Pickford’s error during Everton’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday as ‘awful’, as he told Premier League Productions (12/11/22 at 5:05 pm).

The former England midfielder added that the ‘pictures speak for themselves’ as Frank Lampard’s side went to the South Coast – for the second time this week – and suffered another defeat.

Pickford is Everton’s senior man and in recent times he has been their best player, but ahead of the 2022 World Cup, his error-prone ways returned.

Dominic Solanke’s curling effort from outside of the box was a tame effort, with no real zip or power to the shot.

Pickford should have caught the ball, but instead, he parried the ball straight into the path of Marcus Tavernier, who opened the scoring, and from then on, Everton were all over the shop.

McManaman was critical of the man between Everton’s stick, as Lampard had a week to forget in the dugout.

“I think pictures speak for themselves,” said McManaman. “An awful mistake by the England number one. Tavernier does the rest.”

ANGRY SCENES AFTER THE GAME

After the game, Everton players and Lampard went over to clap the Everton away fans and the reception they got wasn’t pleasant.

It’s no surprise because many of those supporters would have made that long trip, for the second time this week, only to be provided with such dross.

The angry scenes even saw winger Alex Iwobi having his shirt thrown back at him by his fans – if that’s not humiliating and the signs that the fans are angry, then nothing is.
