Arsenal have been pretty busy this summer, with a number of players coming into the club, including star signing, Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.

But who could be headed for the exit door? Well, Ainsley-Maitland Niles is someone who has been mentioned as a possible player to leave this summer.

The 24-year-old featured in Arsenal’s pre-season friendly win over Everton on Sunday morning, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reacting to the player’s recent Instagram post.

Aubameyang told Maitland-Niles ‘My G in America’, as the Arsenal midfielder thanked fans for their ‘great support’ in the USA.

WILL MAITLAND-NILES JOIN NOTTINGHAM FOREST?

Maitland-Niles was sent out on loan in January to Roma by Mikel Arteta despite the club needing midfield cover, at the time.

It’s perhaps a sign that Arteta is happy for the Englishman to leave this summer, with newly-promoted Nottingham Forest showing interest in his services and the Gunners willing to sell.

Will Maitland-Niles get ahead of Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey next season in the middle of the park? No.

Added with that, at fullback, another position he can operate, once again, he would be back-up to Takehiro Tomiyasu on the right and even if he wanted to play on the left.

Either way, with Maitland-Niles set to turn 25 in August, it’s high time he earned regular minutes and started to elevate his career.

The player’s career is starting to stagnate at the wrong time, but making the right call in his career this summer will help him in the long-term.

It’s understandable if he wanted to stay at Arsenal because it’s his boyhood club and they are progressing out on the field under Arteta.

But he has one-year left on his contract, so he either pens a new deal or the north London club get some money for his talents by selling him off.
