Newcastle are in the market for a striker and should sign Moussa Dembele – with Lyon ready to cash in. The Frenchman is out of contract in 2023, and Bruno Guimaraes’ old teammate is available for a knockdown £25m figure.

The Toon signed Chris Wood in January, while Callum Wilson has returned from injury to shine in games against Arsenal and Burnley. But the Toon are said to be in the market for another striker – Hugo Ekitike remains a target.

Newcastle are expected to be busy but with Leeds signing Brenden Aaronson, and Villa announcing a third big-name arrival in Diego Carlos after Philippe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara – the Toon need to get going.

Shay Given named six players the Toon should target this week, including Kalvin Phillips. But another name he might have included, had he known of his £25million price tag, is Dembele. The Mail say Lyon are open to his exit.

Newcastle should sign Dembele: £25m fee would be bargain for Toon

Dembele is a top, top striker. The Frenchman has been in wonderful form after returning to Lyon last summer from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid. He has scored an incredible 22 goals in 36 games, alongside Lucas Paqueta.

For the first part of the season, he also featured in the same side as Bruno Guimares. Dembele is out of contract in the summer of June 2023 and a move to the Premier League seems likely, with Manchester United keen.

But given his bargain price tag, Newcastle have simply got to consider Dembele in the coming weeks and months. He would give everything the Toon are after in a striker. Guaranteed goals, pace, strength, everything.

In January, Newcastle held talks to sign Dembele – but a move did not go through. Now, with Bruno on Tyneside and a potential move for Paqueta incoming, surely Dembele would consider a move to Eddie Howe’s side.
