FourFourTwo have, once again, been ranking the most exciting teenagers on the planet as we welcome in the new year, and their top 10 was absolutely star-studded.
You had Premier League regulars such as Harvey Elliott, World Cup stars such as Jude Bellingham and Gavi as well as Real Madrid’s newest signing – Endrick.
There was another interesting name in the top ten though, a player that Liverpool have been looking at as of late, Youssoufa Moukoko.
The young German placed sixth in the list ahead of Harvey Elliott, and it’s fair to say that FourFourTwo believe this young man is going right to the very top of this sport, claiming that he could be one of the best strikers in the world one day.
Moukoko tipped for the top
The striker was lauded by the magazine.
“Moukoko’s consistency is perhaps the most astonishing thing for such a young player. Already pinned upon for Dortmund, the forward can twist, turn and offer unpredictability – but team-mates know what they’re getting from him. He knows no such thing as an impossible shooting angle, working the ball wherever he receives it and even at the age of 16, he was being thrown on by an ever-desperate Marco Rose to try and salvage points,” They wrote.
“There are aspects of a sturdy yet short South American baller in the Dortmund man’s stature. It’s good news for a nation that seem unable to produce a proper striker: they might just have one of the best in the world.”
Where will he be playing?
Moukoko does look like a player who is destined for greatness, but his career path will largely be decided by where he goes next.
His Borussia Dortmund contract is up in the summer, and he has to choose his next move wisely.
Chelsea have been linked – and given their track record with young strikers we’d advise him to avoid Stamford Bridge, while Liverpool are also keen.
In our view, a move to Anfield would make the most sense. Working alongside a fellow German in Jurgen Klopp would surely help Moukoko, while Liverpool have proven with players like Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones that they’re willing to give young players a chance to shine.
