Emi Martinez was impressed by Cristian Romero’s performance as Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United 2-0 on Saturday.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper, who will be in action for his side’s clash against Everton on Sunday, responded to the Tottenham star’s Instagram post after yesterday’s win.
Cristian Romero posted ‘big win’ and ‘this is the right path’ his team are taking, with Emi Martinez sending fire emojis to his fellow countryman in the comments section.
The Spurs fans in the comments section also lauded their hard-hitting centre-back for his performance, with some even claiming that the 25-year-old is better than his fellow countryman, Lisandro Martinez.
Either way, this was a huge win for Spurs and a statement of intent that they can cope without their legendary and now-departed striker, Harry Kane.
Man United tried their utmost best to bang that Spurs door down, but the backline and goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, held firm to keep their first clean sheet under their new boss – Alan Shearer reacted to Romero’s controversial handball.

“Big game today,” said Romero. “We will continue working to always improve, but this is the right path. All together always @spursofficial.”
Eric Dier out of the Spurs squad again
One interesting thing to note from the win over Man United was the fact that Eric Dier, for the second game week running, was left out of the matchday squad.
Postecoglou is pushing for Romero and new summer signing Micky van de Ven as his pairing, with a clear sign that Dier isn’t part of his plans.
It was previously claimed by Jamie O’Hara that the player is ‘upset’ that he wasn’t named captain – Son Heung-min replaced Hugo Lloris in that role this season.
