Newcastle United reportedly want Aston Villa’s Albert Adomah.

According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 60, Sunday, July 8, 2018), Newcastle United plan to switch their attention to Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah should they fail to bring Andros Townsend back to St. James’ Park from Crystal Palace (click here to read more).

Some Newcastle fans are not pleased with the speculation, as reported by HITC Sport (click here to read more), and their concerns are justified.

Adomah is a good winger, but in the Championship – not in the Premier League.

It would be quite a risk for Newcastle to spend money on a winger who could struggle to adapt to the Premier League, especially if he is an alternative to the proven and former Tottenham Hotspur man Townsend.

Then there is Adomah’s age. The Ghana international is 30 years of age, and the former Middlesbrough winger is not going to have too much of a resale value.

True, Newcastle need experienced players who can make an instant impact in the Premier League, but the Magpies would not get much of a transfer fee if the former Bristol City star is unable to produce the goods in the Premier League and have to be offloaded.

Adomah has made only two appearances in the Premier League, and that was in 2016-17. and signing him could be a major mistake from Newcastle manager Benitez.
