Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has revealed on social networking site Twitter that Joleon Lescott is speaking to clubs.

Xia has suggested on Twitter that the 34-year-old former Manchester City and West Bromwich Albion defender will leave Villa before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Chinese business has also stated that there will be no problem with the Englishman regarding medicals.

The Villa owner has also stated on Twitter that talks over signing a number nine are going on.

Xia has claimed that Villa are working hard on bringing in a new striker before the summer transfer window closes next month.

According to The Daily Mail, Villa had a bid for Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone turned down earlier in the summer.

It has been reported that the Villans, Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Bristol City all had their offers for the 23-year-old goalkeeper rejected.

Aston Villa's Ross McCormack reacts

Ross McCormack has revealed that he turned down from an offer from Championship rivals Norwich City to join Villa in the summer transfer window (click here to read more).

The former Rangers and Leeds United striker moved to Villa from Fulham earlier this month.

“Norwich were the first club to have a bid accepted,” McCormack said on Sky Sports EFL weekly podcast. “It was down to me to choose. It was everything really, I had to make a decision between one or the other.

“I chose Villa and I still don’t see any reason why it is the wrong decision, they’ll (the two clubs) be very close this year.”
