Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack has stated he has no regrets over choosing to sign for the club over Championship rivals Norwich City.

Speaking on Sky Sports EFL weekly podcast, McCormack says he felt he could not turn Aston Villa down, and believes the transfer was a good deal for his former club Fulham.

McCormack, 30, netted his first goal for the club last week and hopes to produce the form he showed for Fulham, for his new side.

The striker said: “Norwich were the first club to have a bid accepted. It was down to me to choose. It was everything really, I had to make a decision between one or the other.

“I chose Villa and I still don’t see any reason why it is the wrong decision, they’ll (the two clubs) be very close this year.”

He had earlier added that the stature of Aston Villa was part of the attraction, and he feels the transfer was one which suited all parties:

He said: “I’m lucky one of the biggest if not the biggest team in the Championship wanted to spend money on me, I felt I couldn’t turn them down. From a business point of view for Fulham, the offer was too good to reject. It was a good move for everyone.”

McCormack is looking up at both Norwich and Fulham in the league table at this very early stage, but the time to cast judgement will be at the end of this season.

The Scotsman says he sees no reason he was wrong to choose Villa now, and he will have to hope he feels the same assurance in May, if Villa are promoted – yet as he notes, it is conceivable both they and Norwich could win promotion.
