Here is the latest transfer news coming out of Villa Park as the club close in on a surprise left-back signing.

Ian Maatsen

Dutch left-back Ian Maatsen appears to be the club’s first big money signing this summer with HITC reporting that Chelsea and Aston Villa had agreed a deal for the Dutchman.

We had reported earlier last week that Villa and Man City were two sides who could enter the race for the left-back and it appears Unai Emery’s side have won the race for the defender.

Maatsen made it clear to his representatives that he would be willing to move to Villa Park and a deal has now been agreed between the two clubs.

Enzo Barrenchea

As negotiations continue between Villa and Italian giants Juventus for the sale of Douglas Luiz to Turin, another player could be involved.

Weston McKennie is a player who has been offered but there seems to be some issues in the deal.

Another name has come up and that is midfielder Enzo Barrenchea. Speaking on SportItalia, journalist Alfredo Pedulla said: “Douglas Luiz, evaluations also underway on Barrenechea if McKennie doesn’t lower his requests.”

The Argentine youngster spent last season on loan at Frosinone and featured in 36 Serie A games for the Italian side.

Lewis Dobbin

A report from The Athletic has stated Villa have held positive talks with Everton for the signing of winger Lewis Dobbin this summer.

In addition to Maatsen and Barrenchea, he could form a triple deal of incomings to Villa Park.

The 21-year-old made 15 first-team appearances for Sean Dyche’s side last season, but started just one Premier League match.

It is unclear what the fee would be for the winger but this could be an exciting signing for the Villans.

Matty Cash

AC Milan have been linked with a move for Polish defender Matty Cash whilst Villa have been linked with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries as a replacement.

However, Dumfries’ exit from San Siro has now stalled with the Dutchman quoted yesterday as saying he was happy in Milan but the club are preparing for every possibility.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has linked Inter with a move for Cash if they decide to sell Dumfries, which would surely work in Villa’s favour if they are interested in the Dutch defender.

Nico Williams

Spanish winger Nico Williams is up next on our list with the future of the Athletic Bilbao forward uncertain heading into this summer.

Villa, alongside Liverpool, Newcastle United and Arsenal are understood to be keen on the Spanish winger but HITC has reported that the player is keeping these clubs at an arms length.

This is because the player has given his preference to Barcelona and he is determined to get his move to Camp Nou this summer and is not interested in a move to the Premier League.
