Aston Villa are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur target James Ward-Prowse from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa competing with Southampton for James Ward-Prowse
The Athletic have reported that Villa are long-term admirers of Ward-Prowse and wanted to sign the £100,000-a-week midfielder in the summer of 2021.
The Villans are still keen on the 28-year-old England international midfielder.
Villa’s interest in Ward-Prowse will come as a blow for Tottenham.
Spurs have also been linked with the 28-year-old.
TalkSPORT reported in March that Tottenham and West Ham United are interested in Ward-Prowse.
The Athletic have reported that Southampton will sell the midfielder, described as “gifted” and “outstanding” by former Spurs forward Garth Crooks on BBC Sport in February 2022.

Summer transfer could happen
In our view, Aston Villa or Tottenham Hotspur could be able to sign James Ward-Prowse from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
The Saints look set to get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Ward-Prowse is at the top of his game at the moment, and a move to Villa or Spurs will surely appeal to him.
The Southampton no. 8 has scored eight goals and given three assists in 35 Premier League matches this season.
Last season, Ward-Prowse scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 36 league games.
