Anwar El Ghazi was dropped by Dean Smith in his first game as Aston Villa picked up all three points against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon – but fans want him recalled on Tuesday night.

Villa travel to east Anglia to face Norwich City on Tuesday night in the Championship, in what is Smith’s first away game in charge of his boyhood club.

El Ghazi, 23, joined Villa under Steve Bruce towards the end of the summer window on loan from French Ligue 1 club Lille, but has only managed five league and cup appearances.

Indeed, the two-time Holland international has been left out of Villa’s last two squads, despite suffering no injury. He even replied to a fan on Twitter over the weekend, after being overlooked by Smith.

The likes of Yannick Bolasie and Albert Adomah have been picked over El Ghazi, who scored in the 4-1 defeat to Sheffield United earlier this season.

Aston Villa fans are keen to see him return to the starting line-up on Tuesday night, despite him failing to make a single appearance for the club since September 22.
