Anwar El Ghazi responds to Aston Villa omission

Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi has taken to social networking site Twitter to comment on his absence from the matchday squad at the weekend.

Villa got the better of Swansea City 1-0 at Villa Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Tammy Abraham, signed on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, scored the only goal of the match in the eighth minute.

El Ghazi, who moved to Championship side Villa on loan from French club Lille in the summer transfer window, did not feature in the match.

The 23-year-old winger has explained his absence from the matchday squad, saying that he was in the crowd.

El Ghazi joined Lille from Dutch club Ajax in January 2017 and moved to Villa on loan in the summer transfer window.

According to The Express, the Villans had to pay Lille a loan fee of £1.8 million for the winger and have an option to sign the Netherlands international winger on a permanent contract for £7.2m.

El Ghazi has made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship for Villa so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
