Aston Villa fans are reacting on Twitter to fresh reports linking their side with a move for Hull City striker Abel Hernandez – and many want a Crystal Palace player instead.

According to the Daily Mirror (May 2nd, page 50), Villa manager Steve Bruce wants to sign Hernandez if the Villans are promoted back to the Premier League this season.

Bruce paid a reported £10.8 million for Hernandez during his time as Hull boss, although he could land the Uruguayan for free at the end of his contract this summer.

It is understood the 27-year-old failed to agree terms over a £20 million move to Villa Park two years ago – before Bruce’s appointment – prompting Villans owner Tony Xia to insist his arrival ‘never will happen’ when the rumours resurfaced last summer.

And these Aston Villa fans are hoping that remains the case…

And it seems even those who don’t want Benteke would rather stick with what they’ve got…

Benteke – who scored 49 goals in 101 Aston Villa appearances – left Villa Park for Liverpool three years ago, but transferred to Crystal Palace the following summer.

Things have not quite worked out for the Belgian this season, however, in which he has found the net on only three occasions.

Should Aston Villa try to bring back the Crystal Palace striker if win promotion this season?
