The Aston Villa manager signed Hernandez while at Hull City.

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce wants to sign Hull City striker Abel Hernandez if the Villans are promoted back to the Premier League this season, according to the Daily Mirror (May 2nd, page 50).
Bruce paid a reported £10.8 million for Hernandez during his time as Hull boss, although he could land the Uruguayan for free this summer.

Hernandez, who has scored eight goals in 10 games this season either side of a serious Achilles injury, is widely expected to leave the KCOM Stadium at the end of his contract.
The 27-year-old has been linked with Aston Villa moves before, and is said to have failed to agree terms over a £20 million transfer to Villa Park two years ago.
And with the Villans forced to rein in their spending since then, they would surely struggle to meet Hernandez’s demands while still a Championship club.
Bruce’s side are guaranteed a fourth-place finish this season, and look set to face Middlesbrough in this month’s play-off semi-finals.
Would Hernandez make a good Aston Villa addition?
