Isco to Newcastle United is picking up some momentum.
The Spain international has been linked with a transfer to St James’s Park in the past but there’s a new report which suggests a move is genuinely possible.
Spanish outlet AS appear to suggest that it’s between Newcastle and Roma in regards to Isco’s future.
Clearly everyone knows that the Magpies have an enormous financial advantage over a lot of clubs these days, with Saudi Public Investment Fund boasting an estimated net worth of around £320 billion.
But despite their wealth, Isco is available on a free transfer and if Dan Ashworth pulls it off, well it might be Newcastle’s biggest bargain of the entire window.
Yes, Isco is 30 and the Spanish magician will decline over the coming years.
Then again, just because Real Madrid have released you, you’re not exactly damaged goods.
This is a player who has won no fewer than four Champions League titles for the Spanish giants and although he won’t be winning one at Newcastle anytime soon, he’s certainly capable of helping them qualify for the competition.
With no European football next season, Eddie Howe’s side could have a major advantage over other Premier League outfits and the short-term goal on Tyneside will be a top-four finish.
And this is exactly the sort of profile of player who could – and probably will – help United reach that goal.
Isco isn’t a superstar but, with 109 goals and assists in 352 appearances for Real [Transfermarkt], he is a very talented footballer nonetheless and one whose expertise and experience could be invaluable.
And the fact that he’s available for free, well this could be an absolute steal for Newcastle if Ashworth can get it done.
