Shay Given says Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is a ‘fantastic’ player after he was asked if Newcastle United should sign the player in the summer.
The former goalkeeper referenced Dan Ashworth and how the Newcastle United sporting director made it clear that it’s about getting the ‘right players’ for the ‘right positions’.
Unless there is a massive u-turn, Tielemans is heading for the King Power exit door on a free transfer in the summer when his contract expires.

The 25-year-old is one of the most technically gifted players in the Premier League and a player who can score a worldie from distance.
Therefore, it isn’t a surprise that some of the Premier League’s best are lining up to sign the player, including Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Given that it’s well-documented that Tielemans will leave Leicester in the summer, Given questioned if the Belgium international is in the right frame of mind, as he told Sky Sports Premier League.
“We have seen this VT before, it’s like copy and paste, he must have about four or five of these goals into the top corner,” said Given.
“When his head is on, he is a very, very good player. But that’s my question mark. He is a free transfer in the summer. Has he been fully committed to Leicester City in the last few months, because he wouldn’t want to be getting injured?
“I am not sure if he has something wrapped up for the summer. He can speak to clubs abroad, at the minute. I think he is a brilliant player. I like him a lot.
On if Newcastle should go for Tielemans: “I don’t know. The midfield of Newcastle with Guimaraes and the like, they have a fantastic midfield. As Dan Ashworth said before, it’s about getting the right players in the right positions.”

NEWCASTLE SHOULD PUSH FOR TIELEMANS
The key thing here is that can Eddie Howe guide Newcastle to Champions League football? Even if they get Europa League football, they should push for someone like Tielemans.
The Magpies are now one of the best teams in the Premier League with the ball and someone like Tielemans would help dictate play in the middle of the park.
He’s not the best without it, but that’s where the likes of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes come into play because they can cover large areas of the pitch, and they have the aggression and defensive qualities to complement the forward-thinking Leicester star.
