Former Premier League midfielder Darren Ambrose has admitted ‘as a Tottenham fan I am nervous’ at Arsenal closing in on the transfer of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, as he told talkSPORT.
Tottenham have been pretty busy so far during the summer transfer window, with Yves Bissouma perhaps being their standout purchase, whilst Arsenal have brought in Fabio Vieira.
But Mikel Arteta, after missing out on Champions League football, could now add to his attacking armoury with the transfer of Brazil striker Jesus, who has also been linked with Spurs.

The versatile forward has played a key role in Manchester City’s trophy-laden success over the years, but the arrival of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez isn’t exactly great for his game time ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
That’s why the 25-year-old is looking for a new home and Ambrose thinks if the deal is signed, sealed and delivered, then it will be a ‘fantastic’ purchase for the Gunners.
“Good business all round,” said Ambrose. “He has a point to prove. Being a Spurs supporter, a couple of weeks ago, I am, of course, delighted with the signings Spurs are making and the players we are being linked to.
“But Arsenal seem to be making moves now. If this gets over the line, then he’s going with a point to prove. I say that a bit tongue-and-cheek really.
“He has come from Manchester City and has won an abundance of trophies there. He just won the Premier League title and he has played a key role.
“But they have brought in Erling Haaland, he couldn’t really get in as a number nine anyway, they played without a number nine, so it’s a good deal for Manchester City for £45 million and I think it’s a fantastic signing for Arsenal.
“I think he will do very well, Gabriel Jesus. He is a goalscorer and I think with a point to prove, it’s a great signing and, as a Spurs supporter, I am nervous.”

JESUS IS PERFECT FOR ARSENAL
Yes, Arsenal need a regular goalscorer throughout the season, but their number nine also needs to be able to knit play together and make the team talk.
Jesus does that in a brilliant way and he will make those around him much better, including his ability to play across the front three.
The only issue he has is that when you compare him, in terms of goalscoring, to the likes of Mo Salah, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, then he doesn’t exactly get near to them.
So, could the Gunners possibly add more firepower on top of Jesus, not forgetting that Bukayo Saka scored 11 Premier League goals last season and Eddie Nketiah had signed a new contract, even though he has received some criticism.
