Stevie Nicol says Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams ‘doesn’t push’ Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea back into the Champions League.
The Liverpool legend acknowledges that many teams need someone of Tyler Adams’ ilk because ‘he leaves every bit of sweat, blood and tears on the field’.
But he doubted the all-round quality of the hard-hitting Leeds midfielder amid transfer rumours that the likes of Chelsea want to sign him this summer, as he told ESPN.
As of this moment, the 24-year-old is returning from injury, with the likes of Aston Villa and Chelsea pushing to sign him.
Not many players can hold their head up high after Leeds’ relegation last term, but Adams is one of very few who is probably immune from a verbal beating from the fans.
That’s why the Premier League’s elite are pushing to sign him, with Nicol sharing his doubts.

“He doesn’t push Chelsea into the top four,” said Nicol.
“You need players like him in your team, a guy who you know is going to work. He’s a captain for a reason. He leaves every bit of sweat, blood and tears on the field.
“But as far as a football player. I don’t think he pushes Chelsea into the top four.”

Could Adams stay at Leeds?
Less than a month remains before the madness of the summer transfer window hibernates until the winter.
The Leeds faithful will be hoping a number of their big guns from Wilfried Gnonto to Adams himself stay put because if they do, then their chances of earning promotion improve big time.
You could argue that Adams is the most important of the lot because the £55k-a-week star (Spotrac) plays at the heart of the action and his leadership skills are of high quality.
