Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo isn’t entirely convinced by Arsenal’s offer – because he is expecting a longer commitment from the Gunners.
Arsenal have been chasing a new midfielder throughout January and rightly so.
Arsenal need to move on from Mohamed Elneny in the near future and Granit Xhaka is hardly a reliable performer.
Add in that Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been loaned to Roma and Arsenal have been left a little short in midfield.
The top target for Edu has been Juventus ace Arthur, but this situation has now been rumbling on for weeks on end.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this month that Arthur wants to join Arsenal but has been waiting for Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri to let him go.
Allegri doesn’t want that to happen and has allegedly promised Arthur a bigger role in the second half of the season.
It could barely be smaller; Arthur has started just five league games for Juventus this season.
Arthur’s agent Federico Pastorello even visited London Colney last week to hold talks with Edu.
That’s all fairly positive, but there seems to be a problem with Arsenal’s offer to the Brazilian.

Tuttomercatoweb claim that Arsenal’s current offer doesn’t fully convince Arthur.
If he is to leave Juventus, Arthur wants a longer commitment than just a few months. As things stand, Arsenal are only offer a loan until the end of the season.
It’s stated that an 18-month loan with a purchase option is more to Arthur’s liking and to Juventus’s liking too.
The ball is now in Arsenal’s court. Edu clearly wants to bring Arthur to Arsenal, but a short-term loan seemingly isn’t going to get it done.
Arsenal are running out of time to get a deal done, and they will seemingly have to come back with a new offer if they’re to tempt Arthur to join before Monday.
