Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are working on plans this summer to bring in a new marquee striker, with Arsenal set to spend big on a new player to lead the attack.
According to the Express, the Gunners plan to use the wage freed up from the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as the potential exit of Alexandre Lacazette as leverage to sign a big name for the striker position.
As per the report, Arsenal have since refreshed their shortlist for the role since the January window, with Benfica superstar Darwen Nunez and Southampton loanee Armando Broja joining the likes of Alexander Isak, Jonathan David and Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the radar.
With Napoli striker Victor Osimhen also on the list, Arsenal look set to go big on a new attacker this summer in a move that will no doubt excite supporters, with a marquee no. 9 something that fans were desperate to see during the January window.
Indeed, with Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah likely to leave Arsenal this summer, the Gunners could sign two strikers in the upcoming transfer window. However, a big-name player in the position will be the priority.
Moreover, if Arsenal are to finish fourth in the Premier League this season, there is a possible chance the Gunners could land an even bigger name than those mentioned above, with Erling Haaland set to be available this summer from Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal have to get striker signing perfect this summer

Last summer saw Arsenal spend more than any other club in Europe in a transfer window that has single-handily transformed the Gunners, and this year could see something similar if Arteta and Edu get the striker signing spot on.
After the success of last year, fans will be hoping for another incredible window in 2022, and signing the perfect striker to lead Arsenal for the coming years will be crucial if Arteta is to build on from this fantastic season the north London side currently find themselves in.
