Aaron Ramsdale has posted an image of him kissing the Arsenal badge on his Instagram after he was kicked by a fan during his side’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was voted Man of the Match by Sky Sports in the north London derby, but after the game, television footage caught a Spurs fan trying to kick Ramsdale in the back, as reported by BBC Sport.

Mikel Arteta’s side went into the game sitting at the top of the Premier League table and as the favourites to secure the bragging rights and do the double over their rivals.

It had been nearly ten years since they won in Tottenham’s backyard, but their performance yesterday was one that was, not only deserving of three points but deserving of a team wanting to win the title.

In the second half, Ramsdale produced a number of outstanding moments to keep his team in the game, including a brilliant point-blank save from Ryan Sessegnon, not forgetting that he had denied Son Heung-min at 1-0.

Nonetheless, after winning the bragging rights in the north London derby, as well as being kicked by a fan, Ramsdale posted on his IG ‘Yep, that’s it right there! COYG’, with Eddie Nketiah posting ‘unreal’ in the comments section, as well as other teammates and friends lauding him for his performance.

TITLE-WINNING PERFORMANCE

There are certain games that you can look back on and say that was a title-winning performance.

Well, yesterday’s win in the north London derby was one of them. Yes, Arsenal will face better tests, such as Manchester City, Newcastle United and now even Manchester United.

But, in terms of pressure, winning against your rivals, in the backyard of your rivals, is different and sends out a statement of intent.

There is still a long way to go, but that gap is now eight-points once again. It’s Manchester United next, before facing off against second-placed Manchester City next month.

Win those two matches, then the title might just be done and dusted because the gap could be in double figures by then.
