Arsenal could act on their ‘long-standing’ interest in Wolves star Pedro Neto this summer with the Midlands club set to bring in Goncalo Guedes – a player that blew Thierry Henry away during the 2020-21 campaign.

Wolves and Bruno Lage are about to complete a £27million deal to sign Goncalo Guedes from Valencia. The move is being conducted by Jorge Mendes, but it could open the door for another of his clients to leave – in Neto.

Reports over the weekend state that Arsenal have a long-term interest in Neto. A move for Guedes could tempt Arsenal to test the Wolves resolve regarding the ex-Lazio star. He has a contract until 2027, so he could be expensive.

But Arsenal could do with another option out wide. Arsenal legend Henry is a big fan, heaping praise on the winger during his analysis on an episode of Monday Night Football on Sky Sports – after Liverpool beat Wolves in 2021.

“I like him a lot,” Henry said, on Sky Sports in 2021 – as per the Birmingham Mail. “It’s not easy to have everything on your shoulders. I like is he’s not scared to beat people on the outside. He can cross with his right, finish with his left.

“He’s always looking to have a go and attack the defender – always on the front foot. It’s not easy to do this at such a young age, in a team where you’re not often in possession and dominating games,” Henry said.

Arsenal do have options out wide. They have Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli starting on the flanks. Nicolas Pepe as cover. But he could go, and Arsenal need another options as things stand – potentially two if Pepe does leave.

Having a big squad this season is important. Arsenal will be competing in the Europa League and in the Premier League. If they are to stand a chance of European success, and reaching the top four, it is crucial they have options.

Bringing in another winger should be a priority and Neto would certainly fit the bill. But the ball is in Wolves’ court, his contract situation means Arsenal will have to pay full whack to land the Portuguese ace.
