The Express claim Arsenal could now move for Wolves attacker Pedro Neto this summer as the Midlands club close in on the signing of Valencia’s Goncalo Guedes – with the London club said to boast a ‘long-standing interest’ in Neto.

Wolves have made a £27million offer to sign Portugal international Guedes, 25. A player that had a hand in 17 goals during 36 La Liga appearances last season, scoring 11 and creating six. The move is described as ‘impending’.

The report claims that a move for Guedes could see Arsenal now decide to pursue Neto. The Gunners are said to have long-admired ex-Lazio star Neto, who at 22 has already clocked up 93 appearances in all competitions for Wolves.

Neto signed a new contract at Wolves until the summer of 2027. But a move to Arsenal could be tempting for the talent. A player that Alan Shearer once branded “simply too good for Arsenal”, after scoring in a 2-1 win in December.

Neto, like many other Wolves players, is represented by Jorge Mendes – who has strong connections with Wolves. He is also said to be the agent for another new Arsenal signing, in the form of midfielder Fabio Vieira.

The Gunners need a winger. They have Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka as starting options. But Nicolas Pepe could still leave the club before the end of the window. More cover is required given Arsenal are in the Europa League.

With Arsenal long-admiring Neto, a move could now come the surface. It is unclear how much Neto would cost. But it would cost a fair amount given Wolves spent £18million to sign him and Jordao in 2019, and his contract.

But it would be a sensational signing for Arsenal, who do need attacking reinforcement before the end of the window.
