Arsenal are reportedly considering a move to sign Juventus defender Gleison Bremer in the summer in a deal that could see Takehiro Tomiyasu go the other way – and Wojciech Szczesny is a huge admirer of the Brazil centre-back.

In a dark season for Juventus, 25-year-old Bremer has been a rare shining light. With Juve struggling on the pitch and behind the scenes, a 15-point deduction seems to have ended any hope of Champions League qualification.

Come the summer, there is expected to be a number of player sales. Bremer might be one of those that generates the most interest. Joining Juventus from Torino last summer, he has since played 27 times – scoring three goals.

CMW claim Arsenal are ready to test Juve’s resolve. The report states that under normal circumstances, Juve would reject any offers made for the £44m-rated star. But, in the current light, they may have to cash in on the Brazilian.

Arsenal would prefer not to pay the entire fee in full. Instead, they would be willing to include Tomiyasu plus a fee of around £27million. It is unclear how Juve would respond – but one thing is for sure, Szczesny is a big fan of Bremer.

“Physically, he is impressive,” ex-Arsenal man Szczesny told Italian newspaper Tuttosport earlier this season. He continued: “He’s a very calm boy. But, physically, he is a good player. The speed, power he has; Really impressive.”

Bremer would be a stunning signing and Szczesny, the man behind Bremer between the sticks, will want his side to keep him at The Old Lady. But it is down to the player himself. Will he stick it out at Juve – or leave for pastures new?

It depends on his ambitions. He has only just joined Juventus and he may feel that he sees future in Turin. But he is a player of Champions League quality and the chance to lead Arsenal’s defence into battle will be tricky to reject.
