It looked like Arsenal’s hopes of signing Martin Odegaard were over – but there is suddenly new hope of a deal being done.
The Gunners took Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid in January of this year, but the deal didn’t include a purchase clause.
In 14 Premier League outings, Odegaard notched one goal and two assists in the Premier League for Arsenal before heading back to Spain.
Earlier this month, Odegaard took to Instagram to say goodbye to Arsenal and make it clear that he was staying with Real – but there’s a twist in the tale.
Football.London reported this week that Arsenal are still holding out hope of signing Odegaard this summer even if Leicester City’s James Maddison is also being eyed.
Now, Defensa Central report that Odegaard has now held talks with boss Carlo Ancelotti over his future having been invited into his office on Wednesday.

Ancelotti stated that Odegaard will have a role to play at Real but may not be a starter, meaning Odegaard has doubts over staying with the club after all.
Odegaard would seemingly be open to leaving if the right approach came, and that may be the encouragement Arsenal need to ramp up their efforts to bring the Norwegian back to North London.
Branded ‘top quality’ by Unai Emery, Odegaard still has his best years ahead of him, and Arsenal should absolutely push for him if Real will let him go.
