Stan Collymore has written in CaughtOffSide that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would love to have Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison in his squad for next season and beyond.

The former Liverpool striker thinks that Arsenal boss Arteta could make a move for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Arteta could see the England international playmaker as someone who could complete with Norway international attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard for a place in the starting lineup, according to Collymore.

Arsenal tipped to move for Leicester’s James Maddison

Collymore wrote: “I wonder if Mike Arteta’s Arsenal may think about signing him too.

“They’re almost guaranteed to be in the Champions League next season so they’ll want options and providing Martin Odegaard with competition could be key to the Norwegian going from strength to strength.

“I think Arteta would welcome a player as confident as Maddison coming in as well. His personality is a bit like Marmite – he’s a player you either love or hate and there’s been a few instances in the past where his behaviour has been questioned so his future will depend on his attitude now, which does seem to have improved.”

Good signing for the Gunners?

In our view, James Maddison would be a good signing for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, especially if they are able to bring the Englishman to the Emirates Stadium on a modest fee from Leicester City.

The 26-year-old has done well for the Foxes over the years, and he himself could be tempted to make the move to Arsenal.

After all, the Gunners could win the Premier League title this season.

And they are a global brand.

Yes, we know that Arsenal have a very good attacking unit, but for the North London club to continue to progress as a team, they need more quality players in their squad.
