Gary Lineker praised Arsenal target Declan Rice for his opening goal for England in their 2-1 victory over Italy on Thursday night.

The West Ham United captain impressed at the base of midfield for the Three Lions once again, leading Jude Bellingham to sing his praises after the contest.

As a recent report suggested that Arsenal plan to submit a bid for Declan Rice in June, he rose to the occasion for England once again, as Gary Lineker applauded his strike against Italy.

Lineker praises Arsenal target Rice for England vs Italy

Fabrizio Romano had claimed a couple of weeks ago that the £62,000-a-week [Salary Sport] man had his sights set on an exit from the Hammers in the summer and was interested by the prospect of joining Mikel Arteta’s men.

Several Gooners have voiced their opinion about how the Hammers legend, described as a ‘leader’ by Robbie Keane would be a cracking signing for them come next season.

As Arsenal continue to explore a move for Declan Rice, Gary Lineker voiced how impressed he was by him as England went on to defeat Italy.

Declan Rice to the Emirates Stadium is a match made in heaven

Moving on from the praise Gary Lineker afforded to England superstar Declan Rice against Italy, let us quickly assess why a potential transfer to Arsenal ticks almost every box for all parties involved.

For starters, the Gunners could bring in a player well capable of not just playing in place of the irreplaceable Thomas Partey but potentially even surpassing him one day.

In addition, Rice could be fielded right where Granit Xhaka is and perhaps look at his devastating best in a box-to-box role, where his ball-carrying ability shines the brightest.

Thirdly, the player would finally get the chance to compete in the Champions League, which makes the move make sense for both parties.
