Simon Jordan says Chelsea is the ‘natural home’ of Arsenal transfer target Declan Rice ahead of the summer window opening.

The talkSPORT pundit thinks Declan Rice is a ‘great’ midfielder for West Ham United, but he questioned the £100 million price-tag on his head.

During the January transfer window, Chelsea paid £107 million for World Cup winner, Enzo Fernandez, which resulted in David Moyes claiming that his player is worth more than the Argentine star.

But, at 23, with no trophies to his name and having never played Champions League football, who will put such money on the table for the hard-hitting West Ham captain?

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are keen on the England international, it was previously suggested that the player himself, dubbed ‘top’ by Kevin Cambell, wants to move to the Emirates.

But whatever happens, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan doesn’t like the price-tag on his head, as he shared why ‘Chelsea is his natural home’, as he told talkSPORT

“I have mentioned the difficulty I have with the suggestion that he is worth £100 million,” said Jordan.

“Yes, of course, he is a good player. A great central midfield player, at times. He has got bags of ability and he has got lots of potential as well as the current ability.

“You put him in a better side and Declan Rice will look a much better player – let’s put him into a bigger club that has expectations of winning leagues or competing right to the death of big tournaments, then maybe we will see

“I guess, if West Ham have enough competitive tension in the marketplace between football clubs that might want to buy him. Whether that’s Chelsea, where people think it’s his natural home because of his relationship and feeling towards that club. Or whether it’s Manchester City because they are winning everything.”

RICE IS NOT WORTH THE RISK

First of all, you have to question why he would go to Chelsea now that they won’t be in Europe next season. Plus, why would they be stupid enough to spend another £100 million on a single player?

As for Arsenal, yes, Rice suits them. But can they risk paying such money for a player that isn’t proven at the top level?

Someone like Manchester City can take such risks because their dressing room is full of winners and he would hold a less important role for Pep Guardiola’s side.
