According to the latest information provided by journalist Rudy Galetti, Arsenal may ditch their pursuit for Moises Caicedo in the summer, as Mikel Arteta aims to assess whether Albert Sambi Lokonga comes good at Crystal Palace on loan first.
While the Brighton midfielder’s agent confirmed that a switch to the red side of North London was his client’s dream, a move failed to come to fruition, with the Premier League leaders signing Jorginho instead.
It was widely expected that Arsenal and Arteta would re-ignite their interest for Moises Caicedo in the summer but it seems as if they have a lot of faith in Albert Sambi Lokonga proving his class during his loan stint at Crystal Palace.
Arteta may dump Caicedo dream for loan prospect Lokonga
Ultimately, this is a massive vote of confidence when it comes to the ‘special’ and ‘intelligent’ talent, who has flattered to deceive at times during his time at the Emirates Stadium, albeit being a raw prospect.
But journalist Rudy Galetti has broken down why Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are choosing to keep the faith in Albert Sambi Lokonga, after his loan spell at Crystal Palace comes to an end rather than just splashing the cash on a ‘top’ player like Moises Caicedo.
“In the summer, they could try again for Moises Caicedo, but [Mikel] Arteta wants to make a final decision only after evaluating the performance of [Albert] Sambi Lokonga, who is now on loan at Crystal Palace. So, it’s an option, but at the moment, nothing has been decided yet for Moises Caicedo in the summer”, Galetti told GiveMeSport.

Ultimately, the Gunners would have had to fork out as much as £90 million to sign the Ecuadorian talent in January.
Now, it seems clear that Mikel Arteta sees something in the ex-Anderlecht midfielder that he may not in Moises Caicedo, which is why the former’s loan spell at Crystal Palace could decide how Arsenal choose to bolster their midfield in the summer.
