A surprising piece of Arsenal transfer news emerged last week.

It was reported that Monaco had tried and failed to lure Albert Sambi Lokonga away from the Emirates Stadium.

Lokonga joined Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021 but hasn’t yet really excelled at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.

In fact, sometimes the Belgium international even infuriates his manager.

On Friday, Football.London reported that the Arsenal boss ‘snapped’ at Lokonga for his performance in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat away to Manchester City.

And Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports News has revealed to Give Me Sport that the Spanish manager could indeed sell him before Tuesday’s deadline, but only if a replacement can be sourced.

He said: “Lokonga has attracted interest from Monaco, but I’m told Arsenal will only consider allowing him to leave if they bring in a replacement.”

The Arsenal transfer news is hotting up and it’s entirely possible that Lokonga is allowed to leave.

And that’s because it’s also entirely possible that a midfielder joins the Gunners before 11pm tomorrow night.

Speculation is rife about Moises Caicedo joining Arteta’s side and the Brighton powerhouse reportedly wants the move, as covered by HITC Sport.

If Caicedo gets over the line, don’t be surprised to see that offset Lokonga’s departure.
