There’s some promising Arsenal transfer news for supporters of the North London outfit.

On Thursday, news broke that the Gunners were set to sign Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion.

But there was also Arsenal transfer news regarding a departure which some fans might have missed.

The Emirates Stadium outfit announced that Harry Clarke had left the club.

Arsenal revealed that the 21-year-old had returned from his loan at Stoke City, only to join Ipswich Town on a permanent basis.

He had been on their books for the past eight years, after joining from the Tractor Boys originally.

And here’s how Clarke himself reacted to the departure on Twitter:

The defender scored two Championship goals in nine starts for City during the first half of the campaign and it’ll be interesting to see how he fares with his hometown club once again.

Obviously Clarke himself would’ve loved to have made the grade at Arsenal, but the competition for places is fierce in Mikel Arteta’s senior squad – including at centre-back – and leaving was definitely the right move.

Besides, returning to your boyhood club as a senior professional is the stuff of dreams and no doubt Clarke will be absolutely buzzing ahead of his return to Ipswich.
