Arsenal have long wanted Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar – but reports now suggest that Tottenham could swoop in to sign him.
What’s the story?
The Mirror reported on Sunday that Tottenham’s new director of football Fabio Paratici wants to add more creativity in midfield despite not having a manager in place yet.
One player he fancies signing is Lyon talent Aouar, having learned that the Ligue 1 side may need to sell this summer.
Aouar had a great partnership with Tanguy Ndombele at Lyon, and Tottenham could now move to reunite them in North London.
What about Arsenal and Aouar?
The report adds that Arsenal have loved Aouar for some time, and made a bid for him last summer but couldn’t get a deal done.
In fact, The Sun reported just last week that Arsenal are prepared to hand Aouar £100,000-a-week in order to finally join them.
The Gunners may now see Aouar join Tottenham instead in a move that would leave fans gutted.

Arsenal fans have their say
Arsenal fans have unsurprisingly had plenty to say about this rumour, suggesting there is ‘no chance’ Tottenham can sign Aouar without a manager.
Others think Aouar is ‘way too good’ for Tottenham, and joining them would show a lack of ambition from the midfielder.
Some even think that if it comes down to Arsenal versus Tottenham in the race for Aouar, then he will be an Arsenal player.
