Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested to Football.London that the Gunners could sign reported Tottenham Hotspur target Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window.
Vlahovic has been linked with both Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.
The Athletic have reported that Arsenal are the club best positioned to sign the Fiorentina striker in the January transfer window.
Corriere dello Sport (print edition, page 18, November 14, 2021) reported that Tottenham are keen on Vlahovic.
Arsenal manager’s comments on Vlahovic worrying for Tottenham
Arteta told Football.London when asked about signing Vlahovic: “I think with the amount of things and the way we want to evolve the squad we have to maximise every window in every way.
“We are already, Edu and his team are working very hard because we know exactly what we need to do.
“Whether we can accomplish that in January or the summer is a different question related to other stuff. But we are there.”
The Arsenal boss added: “Again if it’s the right player and we can afford it and we can do what we want to do, we will discuss and make the best possible decision. We are open.”

Worrying for Spurs
In our view, Arteta’s comments on Vlahovic is a worry for Tottenham.
If you note carefully, you will notice that the Arsenal boss did not dismiss the speculation linking the Gunners with Vlahovic.
Instead of simply saying that he is not going to talk about a player from another club, Arteta said that Arsenal could make a big transfer if they can.
Now, of course, Arteta did not mention Vlahovic directly in his comments, but him not dismissing the rumour entirely suggests that he is interested.
There is no smoke without fire.
So, in our view, if Tottenham want to sign the 21-year-old in the January transfer window, then they have to step up their game.
Vlahovic himself has said that he is willing to stay at Fiorentina at the end of the season, but the Serie A club are willing to sell him.
