Journalist Miguel Delaney has reported in his Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent that there is a strong belief that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Arsenal are willing to pay £40 million for the Brazilian striker, but last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City are looking for £60 million.
However, there is a strong belief that Arsenal will get a deal done, according to Delaney.
Arsenal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City
Delaney wrote in his Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent: “As regards knock-on consequences of that, City are hoping for £60m for Gabriel Jesus.
“Arsenal want it closer to £40m. No one thinks it will cause the deal to collapse – in fact, quite the opposite, in that everyone believes it’s “done” – but there may yet be some negotiations.”
Exciting
In our opinion, Arsenal fans should be excited about the prospect of the club signing Gabriel Jesus from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old can play out wide, and that would give Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta a valuable option in attack.
The Manchester City striker is only 25, so it is fair to say that his best years are ahead of him.
And they could be at Arsenal.
Jesus has never really played week in and week out for a full season at Manchester City, and the prospect of being the first-choice striker at a big club such as Arsenal would be very appealing.
We know that the Brazilian is very good.
After all, Jesus recently scored four goals in one match against Watford in the Premier League and was described as “a natural finisher” by former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks on BBC Sport.
