Is Gabriel Jesus going to Arsenal?
Well that’s been the question a lot of Gooners have been asking themselves over the past couple of months.
But unfortunately for Arsenal, who missed out on Champions League qualification, it seems to be becoming more unlikely with each passing day.
That’s because Chelsea are also rumoured to want the Manchester City hitman and Stan Collymore urged the Brazil international last week to join the Blues, not the Gunners.
However, today could be a pivotal day for Mikel Arteta and Edu in this protracted race to sign the 25-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano has told Caught Offside that Arsenal are set to make contact with the Sky Blues again ‘in the next few hours’ to gauge whether it’s likely at this point.
The Italian journalist, who went on to claim that the ‘top player’ will be ‘100 percent’ leaving the Etihad Stadium, added that the Emirates Stadium outfit aren’t the only interested party, hence the delay in Gabriel making a decision about his future.
He said: “Gabriel Jesus is still the main target of Arsenal as of today. In the next few hours there will be new contacts to understand if they can reach an agreement or move to other targets. There is not only Arsenal on Gabriel, who will leave Man City at 100%. He’s a top player who wants to start matches, and it’s not too surprising to see him take his time over a decision on his future.”
Another one of those interested parties could be Tottenham Hotspur who, like Chelsea, can offer the South American marksman some Champions League football next season.
The Lilywhites are reported [The Standard] to have joined their North London rivals in the race to get the Manchester City attacker.
If Arsenal don’t come away from today’s meeting with a realistic hope that they can sign him, it’s time to move on to alternative targets.
