Arsenal now face competition for the signing of LOSC Lille star Jonathan David from West Ham, who are now eyeing the Canadian international.

According to the Daily Mail, the east London side are keen on the Ligue 1 attacker in the January transfer window, along with the likes of Championship defenders Lloyd Kelly and Rob Dickie and Sparta Prague talent Adam Hlozek.

With West Ham firmly in the race for top-four, added quality in January will be key if David Moyes’ side are to build on their 6th-place finish from last season, and the 21-year-old is now a target for the Irons.

West Ham aren’t the only side interested in the striker, though, with Arsenal also interested David. According to Jeunes Footeux, though, Lille will only entertain offers of €55m (£46m) for the Canadian.

Indeed, with Arsenal beating West Ham in the Premier League this season and having a greater need for a striker, Mikel Arteta’s side could have an edge on David, with former Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck labelling the youngster as a ‘’phenomenon’.

David’s form has been excellent this season, and with Arsenal and West Ham both interested in the forward, there could be an interesting transfer battle for the 21-year-old.

Arsenal have to go all-out to sign David in 2022

It is clear that a striker is Arteta’s top priority this year, and with West Ham now interested in David, the Gunners have to do everything they can to sign the forward ahead of their London rivals.

The forward has been one of the best goalscorers in Europe this season, and at just 21, David could be the next piece of the puzzle for Arteta’s long-term plan for Arsenal.
