Arsenal may end up letting Hector Bellerin leave the club this summer, and Rangers star James Tavernier is now being touted as a possible replacement.

Bellerin’s time may be up, with Inter Milan now looking to sign him this summer according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

That leaves Arsenal searching for a new right back, and Tavernier is the latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates.

Arsenal’s interest in Tavernier

Arsenal are keen to sign Tavernier according to a report from 90Min, though they face competition from Manchester United.

Tavernier was simply outstanding in Rangers’ title-winning campaign last season, racking up 19 goals and 16 assists from right back.

This has been a common theme of Tavernier’s time at Ibrox, and his outrageous attacking output may well fit in well at Arsenal.

Tavernier once likened to Alexander-Arnold

The former Newcastle man has been so good going forward that he has even been compared to Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson suggested in December 2020 that Tavernier is ‘phenomenal’, with his delivery into the box just as good as Alexander-Arnold or Andrew Robertson.

That’s high praise for Tavernier, who may feel this is his last big chance to earn a major Premier League deal given that he turns 30 in October.
