Rangers are back in action this evening as they travel to take on St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

The Gers came from a goal down to beat Motherwell 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, showing great resolve to come back and win.

Steven Gerrard will be looking to claim another victory tonight, though Callum Davidson’s men will be desperate for the points to drag themselves away from the lower reaches of the Scottish Premiership table.

St Johnstone are in a sticky run of form at the moment, but did show their threat earlier this month when they claimed a 1-1 draw at Celtic.

Ahead of the game, St Johnstone boss Davidson has told The Herald that he thinks both of Rangers’ full backs are huge threats – and the stats back it up.

Barisic has registered two goals and 10 assists this season, whilst Tavernier has been in frankly ridiculous form with 17 goals and 14 assists from right back.

Davidson believes that Barisic has a simply unbelievable left foot and Tavernier has been ‘phenomenal’, believing the attacking play of full backs in the modern game is ‘brilliant’.

Davidson even feels that Tavernier’s crossing is as good as the likes of Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool, which is huge praise for the Rangers duo given their success at Anfield.

“They’ve got quality on both sides. Barisic has got an unbelievable left foot and puts superb crosses into the box,” said Davidson. “With Tavernier, you just need to look at his record. It’s been phenomenal – assists and goals. His numbers are great. When I was playing full-back I had to defend! I think it’s brilliant that you see full-backs contribute in attack like we see in the game today.”

“Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool are two of the best and Tavernier’s delivery into the box is up there. It’s phenomenal. They’re two big threats but there are plenty of others – the likes of Kent, Morelos and a few others. They’re very well organised and all know what they’ve got to do. It’s the same when the substitutes come on,” he added.
