Arsenal are reportedly set to loan out Tim Akinola.

According to The Daily Record, Arsenal are about to send the 20-year-old up to Dundee United on a short-term stint until the end of the season.

With Akinola having virtually no experience of senior football, this will be a good way in which the Hale End graduate can cut his teeth in the men’s game.

But there’s a lot of Gunners supporters who will want to see Akinola return.

Arsenal have more talented youngsters than you can shake a stick at but despite an apparent move to Scotland, Akinola has a lot of potential.

In fact, Football London reported earlier this season that the midfielder shocked Thomas Partey in Mikel Arteta’s training at Colney.

The story goes that the Ghana international was blown away by the youngster’s strength and anyone who impresses a powerhouse like Partey in that department is probably somebody worth keeping.

Of course, being strong means nothing unless you’ve got ability at your feet too, but Akinola does seem a genuine prospect in that regard, considering that he regularly trains with Arsenal’s senior players.

This deadline looks set to bring bad news for Arsenal fans with regards to arrivals, with Arteta and Edu struggling in a massive way to achieve their targets.

But the fact that Akinola is only leaving on loan and will return to Colney this summer is a sliver of good news.
