Dundee United are close to signing Arsenal midfielder and Hale End academy graduate Tim Akinola on loan for the remainder of the season.
According to the Daily Record, the Taysiders are fans of the 20-year-old youngster, with Football London adding that the midfielder will join the Scottish club on loan for the second half of the campaign.
Akinola has spent time with the likes of Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City, and now a move to the British club looks to be on the cards after an impressive season at U-23 level for the youngster.
Arsenal have a history of sending youth players north of the border, with Harry Clarke this season joining Ross County on loan before switching to Hibernian after an impressive start to the campaign with the Scottish Premiership side.
And now, Akinola could be the latest name Arsenal sent to Scotland for the season with Dundee United. The midfielder has spent the season playing U-23 football with the Gunners. Yet as reported by Football London, many of these players could head out on loan.
As well as Akinola, Nikolaj Moller is close to a move to the Netherlands, whilst Omar Rekik could also leave on loan despite Arsenal’s lack of centre-back options and his impressive performances for Tunisia in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Akinola to Dundee United is ideal loan move for Arsenal youngster

With Dundee United just four points off four place in the SPL table, extra quality and energy in the midfield could be what’s needed to take the club into a promising new direction, and Akinola will no doubt want to impress on his third loan spell away from Arsenal.
Indeed, the youngster has been lauded as a player with a ‘champion mentality’ by Arsenal’s head of emerging talent Yousuf Sajjad via Football London. And for Dundee United, Akinola can show these qualities off in full.
