Arsenal are reportedly set to hand William Saliba a new contract, with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka also likely to be awarded fresh terms with the north London club.

According to the Athletic, the Saliba’s future is a priority for the Gunners, with other youngsters Martinelli and Saka also set to be handed new contracts with the club despite recently penning new terms.

Saka signed a long-term contract with Arsenal in 2020 whilst Martinelli also inked one in the same summer. All three players have their current deals expiring in 2024, and the club are set to work on extending these.

Saliba, who earns a reported £40,000-a-week, is yet to play a professional game for Arsenal under Mikel Arteta after joining the club in 2019. However, the defender has been in excellent form for Olympique Marseille this season, with the centre-back flourishing in his home country.

Indeed, the news that the trio are subject to new contracts should be exciting for Arsenal fans, with the three players all very young and having the potential to become superstars for the north London club.

Saka has already made over 100 appearances for Arsenal, whilst Martinelli has this season grown into his own as one of the Premier League’s most promising attackers. Yet the big news is that Saliba could sign a new contract with the north London club.

The 20-year-old centre-back has shown this season with Marseille that he has a big future ahead of him. And for Arsenal, signing Saliba down to a long-term contract will be massive for Arteta’s plans in the coming seasons.

The youngster has the potential to be a defensive superstar. And whilst Ben White and Gabriel are the clear first-choice centre-back pairing, for now, there’s a strong chance this partnership could get broken up by Saliba, even more so if the defender signs a new contract.
